Arthur Masuaku
Whats the consensus on him out on the left-wing? I think it suits him much better than leftback / wingback. He might not be fully polished but theres something about him that I really really like and i think he could become a great left winger with enough game time to fully adjust to the role.

Plus his skills are exactly what we want to see when watching football.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Yes he is quick but his decision making is still poor and his crossing against Leicester was terrible. But would rather him than Cresswell in LWB in a back 5

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Can only cross the ball 3ft above the ground
, so you're right. Can't play with Carroll the centre half

Re: Arthur Masuaku
I think he looks good on the ball, but as many have noticed he is a terrible crosser of the ball and as a winger that is your bread and butter.
I remember not long ago saying he was shit at crossing and then in his next game he put in a great cross resulting in a goal,ha, if he can improve on that side of his game he might be a player.at the moment he is inconsistent .

Had a great chance late on, but let the ball run off.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
He's an average player who can't cross.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Credit to those on here over the last year who suggested it long before the coaches at the club tried it.

I'm not entirely sure about him there, and his game is still littered with mistakes, but he brings pace and skill and energy so I'll take any way of getting him on the pitch. I think to make a proper go of playing that role long-term he has to come inside more and actually be a goal threat himself.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
>>> He's an average player

I completely disagree with that. To me that's an absurd evaluation. I think he's clearly the second most skilful player in the squad behind Lanzini. He is the club's most accurate passer this season. He's second in key passes per 90 behind Lanzini. Miles ahead of the rest of the squad in successful dribbles. Joint top in assists.

He is absolutely not average - it is essential to us that he continues to develop.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Not sure what people see, I think he’s a pretty abysmal footballer. Being a good athlete does not make him a good footballer.

Plus, I feel like he could give a penalty away every time he’s on the pitch.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Funny how things change - a few weeks ago it was common to read how only a moron would play players out of position, and now we have a sensible thread discussing doing that.

Antonio to right back was a failed experiment, but not all such experiments are doomed to fail.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Passing stats don’t show you having the ball on the six yard box, with someone waiting for a tap in, and inexplicably trying a skill that reaults in you walking the ball off for a goal kick. He’s not for me.

Roeder-nowhere 12:01 Sun Nov 26
Re: Arthur Masuaku
Crossing is inconsistent sometimes great other times woeful but with practise in that position you’d think that will improve.
He has the ability to go past players and pace and bravery which scares defenses, Creswell always turns around and goes backwards with passing.
Him being there is a positive move and worked brilliantly when brought on as a sub for attacking requirements. Needs to
learn to use his right peg and get himself in the box a bit more cos with his pace he’s a goal threat & open to getting hacked down for penalties- which we don’t get cos we rarely venture into the box with the ball at feet

Re: Arthur Masuaku
Guy has energy, pace and bundles of skill on the ball.

Most of all for me he’s BRAVE, doesn’t hide, always looking to take a player on.

We need this guy in the side, especially while confidence is low.

I like how direct he is but sometimes overdoes it.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
The disappointment is that he looks as raw now as he did when he joined. I'd love to know what guidance he's received from coaches here, was there any?

Re: Arthur Masuaku
He's not very good.
Poor control and his crossing ability is limited.Misses easy chances. One decent cross a game isn't going to get us out of this mess. A championship player at best, which is where we will be if we persevere with him.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
From an attacking point of view the team have not offered much all season. However our sort of threat down the left with Mas ahead of Cresswell is the least ineffectual we have. Down the right if Moyes can get more performances out of Arnie like Friday night’s then him ahead of Zara looks like it might bring some success.

Re: Arthur Masuaku
When a fully fit Antonio returns , he and a rejuvenated Arnie will play the wide areas! He’s just a fill in at the moment and better coming on with 45/30 to go!
